I'd like to say the players of the Argentinian soccer team were just interested in the posts on social networks about the match. They all seem to be young and enthused by smartphones just as the rest of us are.
The soccer players along with the rest of the young generation today are obsessed with their cellphones. Some of the young people today are growing up socially awkward because they are unsure of how to make conversation with the people around them that doesn't involve texting. Instead of discussing the game and talking with their team members, they seem more interested with their phones and the many apps on them such as twitter, facebook and instagram.
Looks a lot like any other group of people in this time period we are in. I think in this transitional phase in life where this new technology that we ALL use is coming into play we are learning to adjust and adhere to a new set of social rules. people bond and celebrate victories in different ways now. Do I agree? Not really but technology, life and social structures are ever changing.
Technology and social media is ruining face to face conversation and no emotions are being shown. They did not show any reaction to winning the game to each other. The players were most likely reacting to the game on their social media sites to all of their followers.
After a huge win, instead of celebrating and enjoying each other, the entire team is sitting on their cellphones and ignoring one another? It is actually quite hilarious to see. While I know that technology is a blessing and would hate to be parted from my own iPhone for too long, it does really make me sad to see this moment. I just hope that we don't begin (or continue, depending on how you're looking at it) to lose moments of connectedness and humanness because we as a generation are so obsessed with our phones and our social media personas.
Right after getting a win, this soccer team has their faces in their cell phones. This picture is just more proof that people are becoming so heavily involved with technology. Instead of celebrating with their teammates, these players are probably looking at how many retweets they got or followers they gained from their recent win. That is ridiculous.
Even after their win, the Argentina team is too focused on technology to even celebrate. It seems like they don't even pay attention to their accomplishment. It shows that social interaction is being lost everyday and that the great celebration after great game is old news.
The Argentina team failed to live in the moment of their victory and decided to view what others had to say about it on social media I'm sure. I get wrapped up in technology too, but it never takes away from what is going on around me or who I am in the presence of. If I'm eating, I am eating, not posting what I am eating to Facebook for likes.
I think one shouldn't judge this photo immediately. They could be tired. They could have just been celebrating and then they decide to start texting their friends or family about the game. If this is their authentic, right after win picture then that's kind of hilarious. I love being in the moment, one must be able to differentiate the two. The worst case scenario with this photo is that they could be acting like stereotypical teenagers and start "celebrating" through texts to each other in a large group chat even though they are sitting next to each other. Maybe they are tired and they are relaxing, I like to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I also do not think one should immediately judge the photo. I think we have all been in situations that despite the exciting circumstances, we are on are phones. I think it would be hypocritical to say that this photo is completely wrong.
I think soccer is more popular today than it has been. Especially among females. I don't think poorly of this photo. When you are away from your phone, completely a huge win, then have some down time, I think all people would naturally check their phone. I do believe that the photo was taken coincidentally at the wrong moment though.
One of the few sports I don't follow but I need to start. It seem disrespectful seeing this photo yet funny at the same time. Argentina wins but are seen in the locker room on their phones? I see this all the time on the trains and buses and you have to laugh because gadgets I are taking over us completely.
I do not think this is "immediately" after the match, I am sure they celebrated with one another as soon as the game was over, I guess here they were just unwinding on their own. I do think they could unwind together, but I think that about any group I am with, I always make it known that at some point everyone stops talking and starts using their phones, I am guilty of this as well, but when I notice it happening, I try to detach myself from it.
