The most reprehensible character in the film is Loretta's father, Cosmo. He is a cheap, unfaithful, and greedy man. He is cheap because when his daughter asks for help with funding the wedding, he says he won't because he has no money. He is unfaithful to his wife and spends more time with his mistress, Mona, who he showers with expensive gifts. He is a greedy man because as a plumber he tries to persuade his customers into spending the most amount of money to fix their pipes. My favorite character, who was the only character who stayed to himself was the grandfather. He wasn't part of the drama or love triangles that the rest of the family was part of. He cared about his many dogs and was always smiling.
I agree with Gabriella, the most reprehensible character is Cosmo. Cosmo just did not represent what a man should be and what people know a man to be. He did not support and stand for his family in the way he should have. He also got caught up through his scandal. The most relatable character is Loretta. Loretta was very hard on the outside and soft on the inside. It was not easy for her to just let anyone in and she had to make sure she was doing the right thing if she did decide to do so.
To agree Cosmo was the most reprehensible character, he did do wrong and was a bad example of what a man should be but loretta could be a bad example of what a person should be, she agreed to marry when she was not in love and did it out of fear of being alone. A selfish act that one should, to some degree, be held accountable for. The most virtuous character I thought was Lorettas mother. Although she had dinner with another man her family was always in her heart and before he own temptations.
I am in agreement with the above students. Cosmo was the most reprehensible character. He cheated on his wife because he wanted to feel young again. He knew it was the wrong thing to do and he did it anyway. The most passionate character is Ronnie. He is the one that expresses his emotions the most and acts on them. We are introduced to him and see this side of him immediately.
I agree, Loretta’s father Cosmo was the most reprehensible character in the film. One of the reason was that he did not seem to appreciate his family whether it was his daughter or wife. His daughter asked him to pay for the wedding but he refused. He was stingy and did not want to spend any money on his daughter. Another thing was that he cheated on his wife and spent money on her. The most interesting character was Loretta’s mother. Despite the fact that her husband cheated on her, when another man approached her she refused him. She tried to keep her family together and helped her daughter in any way possible.

As everyone else mentioned Cosmo was definitely the most reprehensible character in Moonstruck. This is because he was very rude and at times he was unapproachable by his family members. He was very cheap and refused to help his daughter with the wedding, and did not congratulate her on the engagement because he did not like Johnny. The most interesting character was Loretta because she went through a lot in her life and was a widow at an early age. She knew what she wanted and in the end she got what she wanted.
The most reprehensible, to me, seemed to be Loretta. She blatantly announces that she does not love Johnny even after she said yes to marrying him, and also cheated on him with his brother, who she started developing feelings for. She could have avoided all of this if she stayed true to what she felt. The most admirable character is Loretta's mother because of her deep devotion to her family.
The most reprehensible character was Loretta. I say this because she made a promise to Johnny to get married and was very specific when he asked her to marry him. She cheated on him with his own brother and kept it a secret from him while he was away. She was even going to go through with the marriage after both Johnny and Ronnie were at her house. The character that liked the most was Loretta's grandfather. He minded his own business and was very happy walking his dogs all the time.
Ronny Cammareri without a doubt. He was the most jaded, dark, and twisted character. His disgrace and lack of empathy disallowed him from being happy for his brother Johnny's engagement. Ronny's anger towards his brother Johnny blinded him in seeing the truth for the cause of Ronny losing a limb. He blames Johnny for his hand when it was Ronny's own fault from not paying attention. Loretta Castorini was well calculated. She knew what she wanted and when. She was such a firm believer in tradition that it disabled her to take risks, especially in her love life.
The most reprehensible character was Cosmo. I would like to believe it was Loretta but then I started putting myself in her shoes. Though I do not feel like cheating was the right thing to do, I feel like she was desperate to not be alone. I almost hated Johnny because he seemed very clueless and put off a wedding because he thought his mother was going to die if he did get married. Loretta and Johnny moved in fear. Ronny moved in surprise he feels ill will for his brother, and then his eyes started opening up to love for Loretta. This caused him to change certain traits about himself. Cosmo on the other hand has been married for years, the fact that he could even cheat on his wife and lay next to her is a whole different story. I feel like everyone was in the wrong, but I could never understand how someone claims to be in love then sleep with someone else. At least Loretta admitted she didn't love him.
I have to say the most reprehensible character was Ronny, if only for his characterization. He's a brute with a soft spot. He's supposed to be this forbidden love for Loretta, but he's a borderline maniac. When he professes his love for Loretta, he basically demands her to sleep with him, because he's so sure in himself that it is what she wants (or maybe he doesn't care, and he's only thinking about what he wants). Of course she obliges, but only because this is a romance film. The most positive character is Rose only because she does nothing wrong. It's frustrating that she forgives her husband at the end, but only because she has a deep love for him. She's a good person in a bad situation.
To me the most reprehensible character was Loretta. The part of the movie that most solidified this for me was towards the end what Johnny broke off the wedding before she had a chance. She seemed appalled that he would do such a thing, meanwhile she was planning on doing it first. Not to mention she cheated on him with his brother. While I agree that her father, Cosmo, comes in close second, to me Loretta really takes the cake. She as careless, rash and a little bit of a hypocrite.
Cosmo is by far the most deserving of condemnation! He pokes holes all throughout his daughters emotions. He is a cheap man when he refuses to pay for Loretta's wedding. He is a poor father when he is caught cheating by his daughter. His very questionable moment of redemption, around the family breakfast and group condemnation, was barely acceptable. Rose Castorini was the character with the most curiosity. Throughout the film she is analyzing the problem of her husbands likely affair. The question she focuses this issue with is, "what makes men chase women?" She has her own answer, but like any good and curious scientist she shares her results with others to confirm her findings. It isn't until Johnny confirms that it is a "fear of death" that drives men to chase women, that we see Rose have her lightbulb moment. My personal interpretation was that in this moment she had a glimpse at what could have possibly drove her husband to do what he did, and forgave him.
The reprehensible reward goes to Cosmo. He just didn't appreciate his family nor respected them. Not to mention cheated and spent money on her while not using any money on the family. The most positive character would have to be Ronnie. The one character that showed the most emotion. It felt genuine and real.
